What’s up with people wanting a government mandate? Why don’t they as consumers demand it of the auto makers? If the auto makers see the demand for such vehicles then they are apt to meet market demand, by giving the consumer what they want. The auto makers in turn stand to make a profit,  which in the rust belt region means jobs. Government mandates in my view are a waste of time and money, from people who can’t get what they want through normal market conditions.
